Martin Pitts is a documentary filmmaker in the American "cinema verite" method. Pitts is known as a Director/Cameraman in sports topics, and he is one of the founders of the Music Video form. Pitts works include The Science of Hitting with Ted Williams (1973), Ted Williams and the Atlantic Salmon (1975) and the National Sports Emmy Nominated, Jockey (1979). In 1978 he was widely recognized as the director of the Bee Gees lead video for their album, Too Much Heaven that was donated to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). As Producer Pitts was honored as Producer with the CMA Peoples Choice Award for Best Video, Randy Travis Forever and Ever Amen in 1987. Martin Pitts was born in Nashville, Tennessee July 4, 1945. He is a graduate of Tulane University of New Orleans with Majors in Political Science and Economics. From PhD graduate work in Economics at Tulane, Pitts came to writing and acting for stage. Then he moved to Miami with CBS and the Wometco Theater Company. Pitts later founded his own independent production companies located in Miami and in Los Angeles. He directed full length documentary shows and documentary segments for all major networks in the USA, in the UK and Japan. Pitts wrote, staged and directed original plays with the Writers and Directors Unit of the Actors Studio. Pitts taught for UCLA Extension, the USC film school, the American Film Institute, and for the IAFT in Cebu, Philippines.
